Looking to improve your golf game while having a good time? Want
to add some fun competition to your weeknights? If you are, we
have just what you are looking for! Freestone Golf Course will
start two different leagues that play every Tuesday and Thursday
night. Players can simply choose either league any night. You do
NOT have to play in just one league the entire year. You can
pick and choose which you league you want to play in once you
reach the golf course. Let’s take a look at both leagues!
LIMESTONE LEAGUE: The first league will have a
revolving format. Just stop in and each week we will have a
different game for everyone to play. We will play scramble, two
person best ball, alternate shot, Las Vegas, and others. We will
also have rotating hole prizes for closest to the pin, longest
putt, straightest drive, longest drive, etc. It is a great way
to get out on the course and play some different games and make
some friends! No qualifying necessary.
COAL LEAGUE: The second league will be a two
man blind draw quota format. Players will play stroke play and
will have to pull points based upon their score on each
individual hole. It will be handicapped. At the end of the round
all players will be blindly paired with a teammate and prizes
will be awarded to the top teams.
Qualifying:
We will have qualifying rounds the first four weeks of the
league to establish your 9 hole handicap. We feel we need to
have this qualifying track to insure a fair and balanced league.
This should not discourage anyone from joining the Coal League.
Every golfer will be accepted from a 4 handicap for 9 holes to
an 18. Also, if you wish to join the Coal League later in the
year, you can do that. You just need to get your four qualifying
rounds in. For your qualifying round we will waive the $5 fee.
During these qualifying rounds we will still have competitions
to keep it fun and competitive. The competitions will be for
most fairways hit, most greens in regulation, least number of
putts, etc. We will clearly identify the game before play begins
and the winners will receive a prize.
Coal League Play:
Once everyone has established a league handicap, everyone will
be assigned a specific number of points that they have to pull,
based on that handicap. Points are based on what you score per
hole.
For example: An eagle is worth 4 points. A birdie is worth 3
points. A par is worth 2 points. A bogey is worth 1 point.
Anything over a double bogey is 0 points for the hole.
Individual Scoring Example: A 9 handicap for nine holes needs to
pull 9 points and he only pulls 7 points. That player’s score is
-2 for the round.
Team Scoring Example: Our player from above has a score of -2
and he is paired with a player who had a good round and scored
+4. They have a team score of +2.
Please reply to this email if you are interested in either
leagues and we will see you on the course on May 4 at 5 p.m.
Prizes:
Your $5 will go towards our prizes at the end of play each
night. We will give out golf prizes or gift certificates to the
clubhouse based on the number of golfers that play each night.
Fall Ryder Cup:
Our goal at the end of this season is to generate enough
interest to have the first ever Freestone Cup ( Ryder Cup type
format). We will divide everyone who has qualified for the Coal
League into two even teams and they will compete for the
Freestone Cup Title!
